Academic Culture and International Relation

The cultural and social standing of universities make them a stage for political activity that reaches well beyond debates on funding and curricula. The conference intends to explore the various ways in which this potential was – and indeed still is – used for the benefit of international relations. The transatlantic perspective in particular affords a plethora of vantage points to tackle the overarching questions. The conference  shed light on examples from various European countries in their relations to the United States and brings together scholars of different backgrounds to discuss the connection of academic culture and international relations as a unifying canvas of their multifaceted research interests.

Keynote Lecture: Prof. Dr. Konrad Jarausch:   "Contemporary History in Transatlantic Perspective: The American-‐German Dialogue about Vergangenheitsbewältigung" am Center for Advanced Studies (CAS)
